Things you should do during the first week

• Safety training
• Read Best practices for handling chips
• Start attending group meetings
• Get keys for the lab (see below)
• Computer and printer access (see below)
• Learn about the culture of a professional science lab
• Start reading scientific journals

To get a key to 306 & 317 (same key) and outside door of Weniger Hall visit the "forms" page on the department website and fill in a key request. Renee will give you a piece of paper with the key numbers. Then you will visit the campus “key shack” at the intersection of 15th and Washington Ave and pay a $5 deposit for each key.

The group shares keys to some other research labs: The Keszler group in Chemistry (ask Josh), and Alex Yokochi's SEM in Chemical Engineering (ask Matt).

To get an account with COSINE (College of Science Information Network) fill out this Account Application and return it to 1022 Cordley. Remeber to specify that you need access to the T: drive (Physics/Minot Group).

For sharing files with group members, log into your COSINE account, open 'my computer/T:/Physics/Minot Group'. We can store ~ 10 Gb here.

For files which you don't need to share with other people, you have 2 or 3 Gb on the Z: drive.
